Rexpharm (CEO Park Young-sun) is officially advancing its entry into the Southeast Asian and Chinese markets.
On the 22nd, Rexpharm announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Moomall (CEO John Zhang Xi), a subsidiary of the Singapore-based BFC Group. The MOU aims to establish a collaborative framework for distributing functional ingredients and products in Southeast Asia and China.
The partnership will focus on:
- Developing health functional ingredients and products
- Collaborating on Rexpharm’s market entry into Southeast Asia and China
- Supporting Moomall’s entry into the Korean market
- Mutual cooperation for sourcing Korean products for K-food
Rexpharm has manufacturing facilities in the Iksan food cluster, equipped with three 4-ton extraction concentrators and a 15-ton fermentation tank. The company specializes in extracting beta-glucan and other beneficial components (special proteins, alternative meats) from reishi mushrooms and is involved in producing health supplements such as collagen protein, glutathione, iron supplements, and beta-glucan-containing reishi mushroom extracts, which are supplied through nationwide pharmacy channels.
Moomall, headquartered in Singapore under the BFC Group, operates a network business with 400,000 members across six Southeast Asian countries (Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc.) and recorded $300 million in sales last year through health supplements and general foods.
CEO Park Young-sun of Rexpharm stated, “With the global influence of K-pop, we are excited about the opportunity to export Rexpharm’s functional ingredients, including reishi mushroom-extracted beta-glucan, and various health supplements to Southeast Asia and China. To prepare for this, we established a joint venture called Hainan Inwoo Health Co., Ltd. in Hainan Province, China, a special economic zone, in December 2023.”
John Zhang Xi, CEO of Moomall, expressed, “We are excited to introduce high-quality Korean products to our network members through our collaboration with Rexpharm. We are particularly looking forward to supplying products distributed through Korean pharmacy channels and are also very interested in new product development through Rexpharm’s cultivation and extraction technologies.”
